Mass Communication – An Attractive Career Prospect of Today

Mass Communication is one of the most attracting fields of today. This brings very interesting career options in several kinds of Medias such as newspapers, magazines, radio, television, advertisements, public relations etc. It covers a wide area that comprises of closely related fields of advertisement, communication and public relations. In other words, Mass Communication is a study of mass media and this includes all types of medium used to convey the information to the audience.

Mass Communication is a vast field that covers many areas. Some of them are:-
Print Journalism: - One of the oldest forms of Journalism is Print Journalism. It is useful for collecting and editing of news for the presentation through media. Today Newspapers and magazines are the main source of collecting news and information. An individual can easily start his career in journalism with high salary package. A Journalist plays a significant role for the development of the nation. The purpose of Journalism itself is to educate and enlighten the people.

Electronic Journalism: - Electronic communication through broadcasting has affected many lifestyles and thoughts of masses. The communication mediums as radio, audio, video, television etc. have made entertainment, information, possible news, education related subjects reach the very far and wide places. The Electronic Journalism offers many opportunities for the professionally qualified aspirants in many fields for e.g. direction, camera, production, sound, program search, script writing etc.

Broadcast Journalism: - Broadcast Journalism is a special domain of journalism that pertains Radio and TV news collections, reporting, editing and broadcasting. It is a rapid as well as dynamic field. In Broadcast Journalism, there are types of work area where people can work. One can go either in production house or in editorial team.

Radio Broadcasting: - Now-a-days, the radio has regained its popularity among the youngsters. In the Radio Broadcasting industry, there are plethora of opportunities such as a radio jockey, a sound engineer, a station engineer, a scriptwriter and a radio producer. The minimum qualification of joining this industry is bachelor’s degree only.

In a nutshell, Mass Communication brings many job opportunities in the areas of publishing houses, radio and television companies, corporate world, entertainment industry, advertising agencies, Government organizations and so on. So after doing a course in Mass Communication, one can easily get employment in this industry.
